OpenPTrack Installed at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television

UCLA REMAP is testing OpenPTrack in the Department of Film, Television and Digital Media‘s Television Studio #3, using (3) Kinect v2 and (3) Shuttle i7 computers. This is the first installation of OpenPTrack at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT).

Students in TFT’s Interpretive Digital Media (IDM) concentration will be using this system as an additional test bed to develop their projects intended for the mock up of the new LASHP Welcome Pavilion at the Interpretive Media Laboratory (IMLab)’s Downtown Los Angeles space. IMLab is a partnership of UCLA REMAP and California State Parks that harnesses emerging technologies and cutting-edge research to create new ways for communities to use public space.

TFT’s Television Studio #3 will include a 3D model of the Welcome Pavilion, and OpenPTrack will be used to allow the students’ projects to appear virtually as if in the Welcome Pavilion mock up in Downtown Los Angeles.
